Milonga Querida is a twice-a-month Saturday Afternoon Milonga (Argentine Tango Social), and occasional Saturday evenings in Ottawa, organized by Tiniko Natsvlichvili. It takes place in the trendy Westboro at the beautiful and historic Masonic Hall built in the 1920s.
At Milonga Querida, we come together to celebrate the vibrant, multi-talented, well-rooted, and diverse Argentine Tango community in Ottawa, and to spread the word to others about this amazing dance. Beginners are welcome and you don't have to have a partner to join. Beside the friendly social, there are also pre-milonga classes and workshops by local and visiting teachers, as well as performances.
Tiniko’s wish is to bring the community together in one place, have a great time, and highlight the members’ many talents. If you’d like to contribute in any way, please reach out! If you've never danced before, feel free to join us to watch or even take your first few steps at one of the dance events. Your first time is free! All are welcome!
Tiniko started Argentine Tango in Ottawa in 2010 and was hooked immediately. She immersed herself by taking local classes and attending tango events in North America, Europe, and Argentina. She began organising locally in 2014, and then moved to Buffalo, NY, organising events there for 4 years before returning to Ottawa. Her most well-known event which she co-organized, was the annual ESO! Buffalo Tango Marathon, bringing over 200 people together over a weekend to celebrate tango. Tiniko’s been teaching since 2015 and in her classes, she focuses on applying students’ natural movement, which best allows them to express themselves through tango, and she addresses creativity, musicality, technique, and connection to oneself, one’s partner, and the social scene.
Tiniko enjoys bringing the community together and empowers dancers of all levels to make the most out of their tango journey. Besides organizing Milonga Querida, she is also part of the Siempre Tango Team since 2019.
Outside of tango, Tiniko enjoys exploring movement and overall well being through her yoga practice, as well as adult gymnastics, cycling, and other forms of functional fitness.
